I want know how much this lens should reasonably be bought from anybody if the lens is in very good condition without any mark or scratch or fungus on the lens elements but with minor mark on say lens hood.

I am new in UK, and was quick to understand that UK market is costly compared to say US. But still, hobby does not listen to reasons, so I want to buy one 300 A star. F star is beyond my dreams.

Thanks for your inputs.

Half a year ago I bought one in mint condition, with only minor marks on the hood.
Cost me $ 850,-(buy it now)
It was worth it. Sold it couple of months later with a nice profit.

Best regards,

Martin.

Do we have shots taken with A* or M* lenses?

I want to be double sure before I buy it.

I am also interested to know why someone sell them when they are so good?
I just want to know ins and out of this lens, as the price is too much for me.
I want atleast 80% in image quality to the best available under the Sun but want to pay 50%.
I do not need autofocus.
What is the weight of this lens?

Check out:

for all the technical details.

As to why would someone sell it? Because they want something else more! I'd rather have a 12-24mm zoom than the 300mm because it would be more use to me.

Cheers, Kris.

Lots of film bodies, a couple of digital ones, too many lenses (mainly older glass) and a Horseman LE 5x4.

Because if you are keen, you can make a nice profit. These A* beauty's are going for silly money atm on Ebay or other auction sites.

I own one of these and it's a fantastic lens. If you can find a good one for a reasonable price I'm sure you will be delighted with it.

Go to the Pentax Photo Gallery and navigate to Image Data > Lens - there are 9 shots in there taken with the A*300/4 and 6 shots taken with the M*300/4 - all look pretty good to me!

Thanks to all of for clearing my guilty mind (guilty for putting so much money just for my hobby and not for my family) by giving valuable inputs for this lens.
And,a special thanks for the clue of the photo gallery search by image data which leaves me in ZERO doubt.
Thanks again.

I am happy that I made a right decision in shifting to Pentax from Canon.
