Have heard a few rumours that the PPG is being allowed to whither and die. any truth in this? It does seem a shame as there were some inspiring photos posted on there.

Hey Stan! Good to see you on here! Recognise you from the FB thread!

I also heard that rumour that Ricoh were not "investing" in it and it had died a death

There seems to be a bit of confusion regarding the various sites, but PU, Pentaxforums (USA) and PPG all have no connection to each other.

I can understand though how people could be confused by the similar names.
Best regards, John

None of the latest camera bodies are listed, shame, it is (or was) a good showcase.

Doesn't really answer the question.
Points raised here seem to point to the demise of PPG. I did like it as when I had an image rejected I'd try and work out why. I won't be posting on it any more.

I haven't posted on PPG for a long time either. Apart from the delays it always seemed a bit vague as to what the criteria were.

When I first joined PPG it was worth it. There was some superb photography and your submissions had to be good to stand a chance of acceptance. You entered up to five pictures a week, other members voted thumbs up or thumbs down and after two or three weeks you found out if any were accepted. The delay between posting and acceptance became longer and longer and I got the impression that eventually the selection became lazy and just about everything submitted was accepted. Standards had dropped.
I haven't visited the site for months.

Might be a good time for some direct feedback to Ricoh. They seem to have been reading the surveys and at least on social media, are trying to reach out and engage the community.

I've sent a message to their help section on PPG but am not holding my breath waiting for a reply. As regards trying to reach out to the community I was of the opinion too little, too late. At least at the moment there is a thriving page on Facebook with an "International" membership.

It's never too late, as long as we keep on buying their gear, it may be too little though, I will agree. They still seem weary of hiring some competent marketing strategist but it's nevertheless an improvement. Groups and forums are not a replacement, on the contrary. A great place to introduce community managers to, if the will is there....

I wrote to them last year after getting my K1, asking them to include it + the new lenses in their database - they have neither done that nor replied to me!
