Thank you.
I do have an electronic copy of the service manual but it doesn't show (as far as I can see) the actual location of the scale so that I can judge my ability to get at it and fix it.
I could well be missing a trick and am putting this in the forum for anyone else's experiences if they have any.
Again, thanks for the input and here's hoping!!!

Well for most of them, it is not that hard though you do need good tools. For nearly all of that era of camera's it is a "simple matter of removing the top plate. Usually the rewind lever and wind lever need to be removed first. Once the top plate is off, there is usually a clamp or similar holding the prism and its cover down. Having lifted the prism, you can get at the focus screen.

Problem - looking through the viewfinder, the shutter speed scale floats around all over the viewfinder and does not align with the red LEDs down the left hand side. It looks like some sort of 'transfer' that was possibly attached to a viewing screen or mirror or somewhere else that has become detached and is now able to 'float' at will. I don't know how to get at it / touch it to do anything.
Has anyone else seen this problem and is there a do it yourself fix?
Thanks, Frank
