Pentax lens repair in Manchester?

Hi All,

Does anyone know of a repair centre that would be able to quote for a repair of one of my lenses? I'm with Photoguard insurance and they require a second repair assessment before they can continue with my claim, it has already been to Johnsons Photopia - but from looking at Pentax's website, thats who they also use and it has to be a separate company.

Any help would be much appreciated,

Thanks!

I think I'd explain to the insurance company that these are specialist repairs and one repairer (the official one) already has the lens in bits for their quote.

It would have to be reassembled, reclaimed, sent on elsewhwere and so on.

Surely this isn't a reasonable or cost effective thing to do?
Best regards, John

Completely agree John!

But basically, Johnsons have deemed the lens BER - which Photoguard are not happy with and would like a second opinion, I'm just not sure where to take it to get one! The lens has already been returned to me in an unrepaired state.

Ah, in that case Asahi Photo or Harrow Technical I would think.

There used to be a place in Oldham, if that's closer for you, but I've lost track of the name and address.

John,

I think you may be thinking of A. J. Dufton in Oldham, still in business I think but not recommended by members of the Oldham based photography club that I attend.

Edit - Just read the earlier posts in this thread - Dufton may be OK if you just want confirmation that the lens is dead

No,

Although I have a feeling that some of the long standing members may do - I'll enquire when we meet on Thursday.

I only mentioned her as she is from Oldham and one of the best judges that we get.

The club that I belong to was formed from a City and Guilds photography course group who didn't want to disband at the end of the course - I'm sure I have heard some of them refer to one of the course tutors as Christine
