Just wondering how many K-1 owners will be upgrading to the K-II, converting their K-1 to a K-II or just carrying on as is?

I won't be upgrading until I need a new camera, and that could be a long way off now.

Hard to say. The handheld pixel shift is what is tempting me. Depending on how much I manage to abuse 'mark I' between now and the summer and if the price, locally, is as attractive as it was first time around, I might just buy mark II and sell the other. It's hardly a need though, more a want.

The handheld Pixel shift does not attract me as much as the new AF-C algorithm. But i will wait for some reviews before deciding. I think the part-ex option is preferable to the upgrade. If the part-ex deals are not as good when I decide I may just wait and eventually buy the K1II as a new camera with K1 as backup.

I want to see real- world experience reports before making any decision..

There was me thinking I had covered all based but I obviously forgot the "Haven't decided yet "option for the poll

I struggled to get to the k1. So I can't see myself upgrading again anytime soon.
Got to say, I'm loving it.

I wont be upgrading.. The K1 hasn't been upgraded in the areas I wanted it to be upgraded...(auto focus speed, frame rate.) still a marvellous body despite this. Had it been an extra £500 at purchase i personally would have chosen the Nikon D810

Sticking with the K1 for now. Need Pentax to do some proper upgrades to AF. I don't know how long I want to be running 2 systems. But I'll have to decide which way to jump eventually.

I am still not sure, I like the sound of the improved low light performance even though it is excellent already. It occurs that software updates will now only apply to the Mk II.

Personally I think anyone who wants major autofocus upgrades and doesn't want to run 2 systems may as well jump now as it's not going to happen any time soon, if at all.

I currently have my K-1 in the sales section but if I'm honest I'm not that bothered if it sells or not. I am quite glad to be rid of the FA* 250-600mm though as it has freed up some cash to invest in something more exotic lens wise for my other system.

The handheld pixel shift could be a killer macro feature though.

I don't think we'll get a chance to upgrade to the next new model for just £699... Seeing how the change from D810 to D850 was over £1000 everyone looking to upgrade was looking at at least a £2000 cost to get the new model. Those with D800/D800E will have had to spend more than £699 to get a D810 when it came out.

I am waiting for Cambrian to get stocks in.

No "I haven't got one and won't be getting one" option?

Some people call me 'strange'.
I prefer 'unconventional'.
But I'm willing to compromise and accept 'eccentric'.

I wouldn't like to commit myself yet. I'll wait and see if the upgrade makes any real difference. If it does I may well update it, if marginal then no.

I can’t see a major step change so I won’t upgrade; the K1 is a great camera as is.

I would only look at a new body if it had true High Performance AF

I think that an action based camera body with features dedicated to better dynamic image capture, perhaps only retaining dynamic pixel shift and true Hi-performance AF would be great for us sport and wild life shooters.

As I said above I love the K1 so I would not want to change that much, but another type of camera added to the current range, would really improve the product offer, in line with the other major brands.

In a new model I would be happy to forego some features for improvements in others GPS is undoubtedly a “nice to have” and based on the very small numbers of astro images we see posted on PU that might also be a “nice to have”.

Low light performance is pretty good at present so that is something that maybe could be developed futher over a longer time line (slightly lower the priority).

(I sound like I am describing the latest Sony a7R III Mirrorless FF - but I am not )

I am sure it might not be as simple chopping and changing features but a simplified Pentax model with strong action based features might be a more rapid evolution than trying to fit everything in.

So, we can’t have it all as the price becomes too punitive but I would like to see a more action based camera being developed to run alongside (not instead of) the current models which are all great cameras.

Actually FF or APS would not be too important to me personally but I am sure others have different view.

Price wise, “glass wise” and from a portability point of view APS has some advantages for action photography ( eg Nikon D500 I would be very happy with a Pentax version of that )

Maybe It would be interesting for Users and Pentax if we could poll what features we would like as users - just out of interest ?
