The Pentax FA 70-200mm f2.8 now has a pushed back release date in late February of next year - at the earliest. Unofficially reading a bit further into it (and from a few unnamed sources) the Pentax full-frame camera body will also not be released this year

typical pentax release the stuff you dont want and the stuff you do want dont bothere with
(i did say in another thread that we would not see them this year)
it is time for the head people at pentax to hold up there hands and say we have made a big cock up
but that is not going to happen as they are not man enough to talk to there customers and it as been proved on a thread on here

Perhaps they have taken a page out of Sony's Book i.e. Release new cameras and no lenses

If the new date is accurate, then some will be disappointed to have to wait a little longer. I wouldn't buy a 70-200mm for APS-C cameras anyway, it's really a full frame lens, so maybe the two things will sit better hand in hand?

I thought all the FF evangelists had been waiting five years or more for a Pentax FF, now they can't wait another few months?

The proof of the pudding, will be in the buying, so we'll see who opens their wallets/purses and who doesn't!

People used to say the same about the 645D, and then suddenly it was there! The FF will appear, but as I'm not a time traveller I can't say when. If I was a time traveller i couldn't say when either - the Blinovich Limitation Effect.......

I can see little gets past you Nigel. The quote comes from the Jon Pertwee years, possibly "Inferno" from his first season.

Are you sure you want to go there??? Needless to say, the BLE is all about preventing damage to the web of Time by crossing your own timeline....i.e when future and past versions of yourself meet.....

Clearly it must have been well adhered to ...I watched the Jon Pertwee episodes religiously (although definitely on repeat ) and I don't recall mention of Pentax FF telezooms in any of the episodes depicting the 2010s ....

Yes, we digress, but partly because there is no answer to it. If the lens is delayed, it's delayed and there's not a lot we can do about it. There could be many reasons for this, but I would suspect something quite mundane like a below standard part having to be re-ordered, or non-availability of some key component requiring changes. There could be any one of endless operational issues causing delay.

I am quite sure though that it's not because Pentax have it in for their users and/or couldn't care less. They will want to sell lenses as much as any of us want to buy them.
