Pentax DSLR Cashback Deals...

I was reading the 25th October 2008 Amateur Photographer magazine on the train this afternoon, and noticed one of the big advertisers had half a page featuring Pentax DSLR's and details of another cashback promotion.

Don't remember seeing it posted anywhere, so thought I'd mention it.

They list the cashback promotion period as starting 30/10/08 running until 31/01/09.

K20d & kit mark II lens is £499.99 after £100 cashback.

K200d & kit mark II lens is £349.99, although not clear if that's after cashback.

K-m & mark II kit lens is £369.99 after £30 cashback.

I wonder if they've put the ad out a bit early?

The K200d price isn't all that special compared to SRS who do the same body/lens and also a pentax grip for only £50 more!

Also, is the price of the K-m what everybody was expecting? Seems a bit steep to me?

Give it a week or two,(after they are in the shops) and the price of the K-M will drop. It is aimed at new to DSLR's users, so the price needs to tempt them

Mick

Tooks, you thinking of coming back to Pentax?

All this discounting is ready for the new models next spring methinks.
Again no cash backs here in the Netherlands though.

I ordered my K20d last week - with the 16-45mm lense for £699 (but still not arrived yet). Will I be able to claim the cashback? The camera with the 16-55mm was £599, so that would tie up with the new price of £499 with £100 cashback. I had to order from Warehouse Express (and not the much lauded SRS Microsystems) as they were the only ones able to offer me the by now pay 12 months later finance.

Any ideas?

Well, it's funny, but I was looking on ebay earlier at some lovely old Pentax primes, and then remembered to my horror that I had nothing to fit them on anymore!!

According to the ad, I don't think it starts until 31/10/08, although sometimes they back date it a couple of weeks. I remember when I got my K20d, the cashback offer form I filled in was backdated a couple of weeks from the 'official' start date.

Even if you can't claim it though, you can be satisfied that you've got a lovely body/lens combo there!

Cheers Tooks.

I have sent a mail to Pentax Uk to see where I would stand on this.

Never fear Gwyn, Combi Foto in Leiderdorp is selling the K10D with kit lens for EUR 849

Even with the exchange rate being 1.30/1 at the moment you need an extremely generous rebate in NL to get down to Chris' price...
