Hi all, I told a friend who was due a DA15mm this week from Amazon at the previous price.

Nice result

I understand your concern with regard to the price difference of the item - Pentax HD DA Limited 15mm F4 ED AL Lens - Black and thank you for letting us know so we can take actions as soon as possible.

Indeed, I can see that the price currently is at 304.99 compared to the price when you placed the order which was 386.10.

To help you with this, I've refunded the price difference of 81.11 to your payment card. Refunds usually go through within 2 to 3 business days.

I hope this helps. We value your business and we look forward to seeing you again soon at Amazon.co.uk.

What's not clear is whether Ricoh/Pentax are behind these deals or whether Amazon is taking a financial hit in order to put some of its smaller competition out of business. If Pentax were behind the reductions then one would expect to see SRS and other major dealers offering something similar...

I asked Srs if they were able to price match. They were not able to.

Even if they were end of line due to Ricoh bringing out a new version I doubt very much they could do much better than now, the 200mm, 60-250mm and 300mm lenses are all superb and although an updated SDM motor would be nice (DC motor from the 560mm?) there has never been any major quality concerns with those lenses. It was mainly the 16-50mm and 50-135mm (and some 17-70mm) that were the problem.

THere's too many bargains att. Thought I would put my new carpet on hold and get the DA*200. Or the DA*300, or both. Or the DA HD 70 Ltd. then there is the 15mm, 21mm and 35mm Ltds.

I don't know what to do.

I need to cool down, chill out, maybe just get the carpet and keep the missus happy.

Me too! Nearly bought one at 800 a few weeks ago so... boom!

Had a 5 promo balance too, so a snip at 635 for me. Only 6 left now... never look a gift horse in the mouth!

Gulp - I just did the same and got the last one!!

I missed the offer last time they did this. Had no intention of buying one at this time of year but how can you not at that price?

OK time to buy a TC and sell the Sigma 120-400 and Sigma 150-500

No matter how many lenses I have owned - I have always needed just one more

I would keep the 150-500mm if you can ... I still use my 50-500mm OS a lot more than the 300mm and TC . The prime is better IQ wise but at times the zoom is a lot more useful (and still gives very good results)

If I wasn't saving my pennies for a K3 I think I'd have jumped on the DA 15 and 40 offers to complete my set of DA limiteds.

After buying my DA*300 and 1.4 TC the Sigma 150-500 didn't get used at all and I sold it. I've never missed it for a second.

I mainly had the 150-500 for the 300-475 range, no need to use it at the short end as I have better lenses for that type of work. At the long end there is no competition between a DA*300 and TC or a Sigma 150-500, the Pentax combination beats it all ends up; faster aperture, better IQ, lighter and smaller.

Depends what you shoot David, as you probably know I prefer airshows and suchlike where a prime is not always as useful and the af on the 300mm with TC attached is nowhere as fast as the Sigma lenses. As I said in my post already, the IQ is better with the prime but it's pretty useless shooting the Red Arrows (for example) when the are doing one of their manoeuvres and you have no time to swap lenses for when they go from a tightly grouped shot to a wide split.

Each to their own though ... everyone has their own view on the subject I'm sure.

I agree Mike, I am interested mainly in Birds, Butterflies and Flowers with the DA*300 and I appreciate your work at Airshows needs a different approach, but for me the 150-500 isn't missed.

I suppose I was trying to balance your point with an alternative view, which is what Forums like this are good for. Also, I haven't found the focussing with a TC attached to be any slower than without it and not any slower than my 150-500 was. On the K-3 in particular it is fast, accurate and doesn't hunt, whereas it does hunt with small subjects like garden birds when used with the K-5iis, hence my preference to use this combination with the K-3.

I thought it was already quite balanced when I said keep both if you can as the prime has better IQ but the zoom can often be more useful

Anyway, back to the Amazon offers ....
