You have a few errors there. First, you mean Pentax LX, not ILX. They used a silly font.

Second, the lens on the first item is wrong (Pentax-A 1:35 /4.5 macro). There is no such thing. Have another look.

Also, it is MUCH better to sell things separately. You should split the LX bodies and lenses in particular. I might be interested in buying a body, but I wouldn't want the lens.

When listing lenses, it is best to copy exactly what is written on the lens (except for the S/N and filter size).

I.e: SMC Pentax-A 1:2.8 100mm.

Hello Mr Lazarette -- obviously you know your stuff errors may occur I'm not a photographer I've just got the sad task of disposing of my fathers hobby where ever possible I have copied what I have read and it has not been easy to match items to boxes or to get the facts right I still have quite a few other bits to tie up. Reading the info on the lens in question it say's smc Pentax zoom 1:35 / 4.5 and on the barrel of the lens in green it say's Macro given me an e.mail address and I will send a photo the other two cameras I was assured by a camera shop in Sheffield that they are ILX not LX whether ILX were ever made I don't know but that is what's written on top of the cameras it was there suggestion to offer them to Pentax enthusiasts I do know that they cost my father a lot of money each when he bought them they are to be sold as a lot camera plus lens if they do not sell then they will go to auction or ebay at some time.

Thanks Bodyheat a lot of what my father photographed were flowers hence all the Macro bit's he had the set up in his green house as he was a keen gardener to. He would travel to the Tulip society show in Bradford bring back there prized winners, some times on the train if I was not there photograph them in the green house with all the lights and white boards send the slides, I have thousands to dispose of, back to the society and they would be printed in there news bulletins, his love of photograph started in the war he used to fit and take out cameras from Spitfires, Mosquito's that had been on recce missions.

ok, could you advice what mount is this lens (PK?M42?), and the condition of the lens (better some photos showing the exact item), and how much you are after, cheers

There is no such camera as an ILX. Pentax used a silly font on the boxes etc which looks like ILX but is actually just LX. This is a common mistake on ebay etc. I am afraid your local shop were talking nonsense! For all things Pentax check out Bojidar Dimitrov's website here.

The zoom lens "smc Pentax zoom 1:35 / 4.5" is probably one of the f/3.5 to f/4.5 zooms such as the 35-70mm or the 35-135mm, again check out Bojidar's website.

I am just about the leave the country which is a pity as I would be interested in one or two items such as the microscope adapter or the helicoid extension tube. Good luck with your sale, some nice stuff there.

It's nothing to do with being a photographer. It's a matter of reading what is on the lens, and in a great many cases you have not done that. Commonly you describe a lens as 1:35 or something similar, when you mean 1:3.5. In many cases we can work out what you mean, but in the first case it is not possible as what you have written bears no relation to what is on the lens.

I have very recently lost both my parents, so I appreciate what you are going through. My comments were only designed to improve your descriptions, and thus aid your sales.

Good luck.
