Another vote for the DA 10-17, just added one to the gallery shot the other day,

Whilst you don't get the effects of an F2.8 lens or smaller, the light gathering of this lens more than makes up for it imho

Well the 11-16mm zoom of the tokina isn't that useful really.

I recently sold a sigma 12-24 and almost exclusively used it at 12mm.

The reason I bought an UWA in the first place was for some crazy perspectives of close foregrounds and massive skies.

I found that 12mm on ASP-C wasn't really that extreme and ended up using it more as a walk around landscape lens.

The 14mm 2.8 would work great for astro stuff though.

Just lately the Pentax DA 10-17 has had a lot of praise on this forum and some great example shots from it posted - it's quite reasonable in price too!

yup superb and fun lens. Love mine

I really like my Sigma 8-16. A bit big but definitely an improvement on the 10-20.

I am also very happy with the Samsung(Pentax) 10-17. Sort of lens that gives you smiles.

I want something that'll be decent for astro shots.

What about the Samyang 10mm f2.8 or the Sigma 10-20 f3.5? The Pentax 12-24 is similar to the Tokina version but very pricey now. There are rumours about Samyang creating a new AF range tba later this month as well, but the lack of AF may not be such a big deal for wide angle starfields. I am about to put a 10-20 up for sale, but it is not the f3.5 HSM version.

Doesn't your Sigma f3.5 get better reviews than the later HSM version? I may look out for it when it comes up !

Looking at getting a 35mm 2.4 as that's similar to my Nikkor 35mm 1.8.

I'll then be looking for a couple of lenses in the range from 28mm, 24mm, 21mm, 14mm, as none of the available rectilinear UWA zooms do it for me.

I'm curious about the 10-17 fisheye, but it's rather specialised. Seems like fun though. What does it look like corrected? Anyone care to share a RAW image that I can play with?
