Pentax-A 70-200mm f4 vs Pentax-M 75-150mm f4

Which is sharper?!

Looking to get a longer lens for the film camera and have seen both. Mainly for walk around images and maybe a bit of landscape with filters.

One always has to keep in mind that with older lenses there is going to be quite a bit of sample variation depending on how the lens has been treated previously.

I haven't used the M version, but here are some photos on the A70-210.

One of the guys on PentaxForums who's used most of the older lenses is of the opinion that the A70-210 is the best in that range. I have both the M75-150 (which gets very good reviews) and the M80-200. Brief testing suggested the 80-200 suffered slightly less CA on the K-1 - I prefer the longer reach anyway. For something like an A or P series camera, the 'A' setting is a big help. The 75-150 is a bit more compact.

The 75-150mm is great, the 70-200mm I owned a long time ago and it was a good performer on film.

Gareth, i believe the M75-150 was flash man Nigels most go to lens . His profile should be here with the ability to see many of the excellent images he got. Had the A70-210 f4 but it is a very heavy lens albeit with very good results.

Thanks all. Saw a few 75-150mm lenses on the ebay and was going to pull the trigger but then read the write up and all have fungus in them!

Anyone have one for sale at a decent price
