I'd rather you were able to clean and keep it for yourself but, if not, I'll put my name forward to be its new keeper

I have an old Pentax 70-200mm push pull zoom lens, which has a serious fungus infection. I have it in a zip-lock (two, actually), with a moisture absorbing chemical.
However I'm wondering if anything can be done to save this lens? Seems a shame to just chuck it away! but obviously I don't want it near any of my new gear.
My main thought is, is there someone here with the skills to repair it who would like it, I would give it away for postage only.
Or is it beyond hope?
Cheers
