Pentax 645Z still rated one of the best

Idly scrolling through Phoblographer’ s latest feed it listed the ten best cameras available today based on DXOMark’s ratings, and placed the Pentax 645Z second behind a Hasselblad. Pretty extraordinary for a camera that hasn’t been updated for years. Typically though it featured a photo of a Sony in the headline despite them being some way down the list.

I love mine, purchased about 12 months after it was launched, thanks to a very nice work bonus, the handling is superb, the images stunning and the files are huge.

It will see my days out certainly

I think DXO still doesn't analyse Fujifilm cameras that have their unique colour layout of pixels on the sensor, so bear in mind that all of their medium format cameras won't be represented on the list. I imagine that if they were, they'd be rated very highly too. I think most of them use the same sensors but with a different colour filter array placed over them, so I would expect performance to be essentially equal.

No, the GFX series all use sensors with Bayer filters, not the usual (apart from the T100) X-Trans layout.
SteveH!

Some people call me 'strange'.
I prefer 'unconventional'.
But I'm willing to compromise and accept 'eccentric'.
