PENTAX 645 SMC 75mm 2.8 LS v's Non LS

Is there any difference between the 75mm leaf shutter and non LF apart from the LS. I mean is it the same glass etc.

Thanks

The performance will be a good with either, but the design may or may not be identical. It depends where the shutter is in relation to the lens elements and whether or not the original design was made with both options already in mind.

The Leaf Shutter lens is more expensive, so only needs to be purchased if necessary.
Best regards, John

I had the leaf shutter lens when I had my 645 for weddings. When wired to an AF400T flash and mounted on the camera when "cocked" the lens controls the camera and makes the camera fire at 1/8th.sec. and fires itself at whatever speed you set it at within that 1/8th.sec. so you can use flash up to 1/500th.sec. I don't know if it is the same design of glass but there was no differance in the photos from the standard lens. I sold all my 645 gear to SRS a few years ago.
CHEERS Vic.
PS. You must remember to cock the lens for every shot. Vic.

Optically, I've no idea, though all the 75mm lenses are 6 elements in 5 groups, so very likely exactly the same design. I think the LS version has no A setting though, so fully automatic modes are not available.
