The Pentax lens is superb and can be found fo amazingly low prices. I would unhesitatingly recommend it.
The Sigma lens I have not tried, but being aware that Sigmas can vary quite a bit and that they reverse-engineer, I tend to avoid them. I don't like the feel of thr finish either!

Many thanks to all for your constructive input and comments, I think I am now biased towards the Pentax 100mm.
Not that I have anything against Sigma, I have their 10 -20 mm, which is very good.
Now just need to give the piggy bank , a good shaking.
Take care.

The problem usually comes later when a new body is introduced and the Sigma lens has to be re-chipped. It has happened in a few instances and in severe cases has been impossible to do. Minor problems include misreporting of the lens in the EXIF data.

I hope my camera a recently purchased K7 lasts as long as the first camera, a SFXn, I bought in 1990. With luck I'll never need another body, as I'll be 89 then I have noticed though which ever gear anyone has it's usually good, which going by cost differences is just as well.
