Pentax, where are you.

I decided to pop into Jessops today in Eastbourne, as we were there on a day out. I thought I might have a look at their range of Pentax Cameras. Lo and behold in amongst all the various named cameras I came across their one and only Pentax, a K30. On inquiring, I was told that they have been waiting for Pentax to restock them for ages. There was a card advertising a K3 for £385 ! Good thing I was not desperate for a decent camera.

You're right stu62, it went downhill over a number of years. Your Bristol shop sounds relatively packed with Pentax stuff (3 models you mentioned) .. I passed through the mall in Horsham recently and had a browse in the shop there ... just one lonely K500 with a standard 18-55 fitted and no other lenses at all

They do offer the opportunity to order a model into the shop for you to look at. I understand they do it with cameras as well.

I have a genuine affection for Jessops. When I was growing up our town had two independent camera shops both of which were overheated, dingy and smelt of pipe tobacco (lovely)and then three when another opened in the eighties. They all closed one by one and Jessops opened.

I bought my K100D from them and a number of other things. The staff were kind, helpful and enthusiastic. I was sad when the branch closed and the firm went bust. Now there's only Argos, which may be some people's idea of a good way to buy a camera but it's not mine.
Best wishes,

Andrew

During my earlier dabbling in photography several decades ago, I seem to remember Jessops being a big photography store, with helpful staff, just outside the Leicester city centre. Was that the forerunner of present-day Jessops?

Cheers.

I would imagine anyone seeing a display of cameras in the Sweetie colours may think they've walked into Hamleys by mistake

I'm getting sick of the almost daily spam from Jessops

I can't stop it because they only seem to have the email.

I had an account a few years ago, but can't access it because
all accounts now start with an email for the name.

I had a soft spot for Jacobs, I felt looked after in there.

Our local LCE doesn't stock new Pentax, but I feel the staff do know there stuff. The manager has told me he just doesn't have enough demand to stock Pentax in a small shop.

I've popped into the Jessops in Nottingham several times. They had a good choice of dslr bodies (K3, K5iis, K30 and K500) in but very little else.

Though they don't stock the Q's which I thought could of sold quite well, in a busy city centre store to ppl window shopping for kit.

The lens choice was pretty poor, only the kit lenses, the Da50 and da35.

Around 30 years ago the 'old' Jessops had a large store in New Oxford St, London. No fancy decor but was jam packed with stuff and had loads of secondhand stock. Good fun to browse in.
