Ring Necked Parakeet - very common around south west London. Maybe it's on holiday?

Hi Stan, they are working their way North. Believe there's quite a few around Leeds , and in Hartlepool.

There's been half a dozen in the Walker area all year. And one or two spotted in Cramlington/Morpeth

Wow! Thanks for that Alan. We'll soon be wearing shorts flip-flops and Hawaiian shirts all year round

I have some friends in Walker, I tell them to keep a look out.

On my way to work (from Wimbledon) I always see a couple of flocks of parakeets in the morning and usually some on the way home. That's changed over the 5 years I've been there as they used to be a rare occurence. Seems they are thriving in the UK.

Love to see bald headed eagle's over here now. Imagine one of them on the bird table.

In Newquay you get small monkeys in the garden that have escaped from the zoo, I like it when they unhook people's washing har har!

I live near Crystal Palace and saw a flock of about 20 the other day. Funny thing is on another occasion I heard what I thought was a seagull but looking up it was parakeet. The seagulls come further in land during warm weather and this one had learnt to mimic them.

When we lived in SW London, these parakeets had started populating the local parks - their sound started getting to you after a while!!
