Without knowing anything about the digital medium format market, how many of them are weather sealed? Would this make it unique?

The Leica S2 is also sealed; but then it's still not in the shops, has a slightly poorer spec sheet than the 645D and is set to cost $23,000 without a lens.

I don't think there are any other sealed DMF cameras making this a bit of a travel/landscape photographer's dream I'd have thought.

not to mention the Leica S series lenses are ~$5000 each, or ~$6500 if you want the leaf shutter version (assuming they ever get around to making those).

I find it very hard to take seriously anyone who thinks that the 16-45mm lens was the first DA lens....
Best regards, John

It was not for taking seriously John. His blogs seem to get some pretty heavy responses due to his comments.

My heart sank when I read Ken Rockwells "review" of this camera

He refers to "stupid multi-function scroll wheels".

Has he ever actually used a Pentax dSLR?

The elegance of the twin-wheels approach, which default to sensible things in different exposure modes, but can also be set to do pretty much whatever you want, is hard to fault, I'd have thought.

Of course it is, but, you are trying to like the camera! It helps!

Actually, I'm really not. I'd be pleased if it did well, but only for Pentax to get more of a foothold in the market so that they can continue to develop their APS-C DSLR range. I have no interest in owning a 645D, and I hope that the 645D doesn't mean that the APS-C developments take a lot longer.

I just tend to think that criticism, especially from the well-regarded, should be fact-based, measured, and contextually meaningful.

The rant in that 'review' fails on at least two of these.

Was trying to say, that it makes no difference what Pentax do, RiceHigh will say it's crap!

Pentax could bring out a FF camera, with 30MP, 256000 ISO, 250 Point instant autofocus, 150FPS in RAW, accepting any lens ever made by anyone, with the best image quality ever, and he will say it's crap cos the strap is only 95cm long when the latest Canon has a strap thats 98cm long, so it must be better!

I don't think anyone takes RiceHigh particularly seriously. Ken Rockwell is listened to by more people, but even he is widely taken with a substantial pinch of salt.
