New to Pentax - mature student, but still willing to learn!!
You've some nice kit there for sure.
You should get plenty of help from people on this forum, I certainly have.
I think you need to be a member for 30 days in order to use the personal message feature whereby you can message a individual forum member.
Apart from that I don't know whether there are any other restrictions.
All the best.

I'm off to South Africa next week for a month's break, hopefully will have some decent shots to show on my return!
Lots of gear - but not a lot of idea!

Some cameras, some lenses, some bits 'n' bobs
1. Make a list of stuff that you want to photograph.
2. Make a list of photographs that you would like to "recreate".
3. Schedule these "projects" into your calendar.
4. Post them here!
I hope that was helpful.

Welcome to the forum.
As others have stated you have some lovely kit but before you head off to South Africa (how jealous am I !) make sure you have a tripod and possibly a set of ND Filters as you will no doubt have some glorious landscapes to capture for your album and these items will help you make the most of them.

I've never used ND filters, but thanks to your suggestion I am busily reading up on them! - I do have a tripod!

Re South Africa, if you're going to do any safari trips, and expect to shoot from a vehicle, check with the operator as to what camera steadying options there are fitted to/in the vehicle, especially if you intend using a long lens.
You might need to add a monopod and/or bean bags to your tripod.
Did the safari thing on our last trip - this time it's golf and landscapes!

Last trip

Well, since you like PP, perhaps a nice stitched panorama or two to share with us and make me even more

I now have the time and inclination to take the hobby more seriously. After extensive research I purchased a new K5, and several lenses (Pentax DA35mm f2.8 macro limited, Sigma 10-20mm f4-5.6 EX DC, Tamron SP AF 17-50mm f/2.8 XR Di, Pentax DA 55-300mm F/4-5.8 ED). So I'm all geared up and ready to go!
PP interests me greatly - I primarily use an iMac, so will be mainly using Aperture, quite a step up from using Picasa in the past. I hope to pick up tips from the various forum topics. I am in awe of quite a lot of the photographs published on the website, and hope to improve my output accordingly.
Are there any guidelines laid down for use of the forum? Apparently as a newcomer there are various limitations on my use, but for how long ? etc. etc..
I look forward to the benefits of being a member, and hopefully also making useful contributions in due course.
