As everyone here already knows I agree with Daroni.. Though he's far more eloquent. But he forgot to mention video quality... Which is years behind the competition.... But the stalwarts here will continue to defend the company by saying there's nothing so wrong. and they are cheaper than the competition...

Cannot help but rise to the bait - astrophotography, multiexposure, more exposure options, low light image quality, interval exposures, in other words when you actually get creative. But the issue I donít understand is why you havenít changed brands if you feel this? This thread is about new lenses which promise high quality so it is unfortunate that it gets hijacked in this way by irrelevances.

Not looking for a challenger for a Nikon Z6 just a good working wildlife/action camera with a Pentax badge on it

You would do better to approach your problem from the other direction.

Assess and decide on your priorities in a camera/lens. then buy one that fits your requirements.

I do wish you would find another forum more suited to your constant rants. DPR perhaps.

you are getting very boring.

Let's not get too tetchy....

Pentax cameras do a lot of things that are desirable. best is open to interpretation, but I'd look at low light performance, colour quality, weather resistance, ergonomic design that puts controls conveniently and efficiently, generally relatively compact construction of high quality, genuine glass pentaprism finders, compatibility with older lenses and accessories....and maybe more if I think about it longer.

Others may find some or all of these qualities in other marques, but that's freedom and there's plenty of choice out there.

Back to topic - the new 11-18 lens has ďa space specifically designed for holding a heating device to prevent condensationĒ. Can anyone shed light on this? And is it a unique feature?

It is unique as far as I know. I wonder if this will help when moving into really hot places such as a butterfly house?

I don't do any astro, but I have heard that jackets with built in heaters are available from specialists.
