Here's a shot of the recent new moon taken with my Russian MTO 11CA, which is a 1000mm F10 mirror lens:

Here's the lens itself. It was used by the military and is built like the proverbial tank

As you can see (or rather can't see) the lens dwarfs the camera stuck on the back.

Nice one, that's the sharpness moonshots should have

Wow! - awesome moonshot. How much does that lens weigh?? That would fill the boot of a car from the looks of it...

Puts my moon shots to shame and what an amazing lens .

Nice image Mike. The illuminated part of the moon is great. Am a bit confused by the framing though - mentally I fill in the dark part of the moon and this is cut off. I know you can't see it - but I would feel more comfortable looking at the image if there was space for the whole moon in it. But perhaps that's just me.

That MTO 11CA must come in handy for street candids.

Thats a cracking shot,

Love the clarity and detail of the moons surface.

Very nice moonshot. So clear you can see it really is made of cheese.

Thanks for the kind comments

In terms of size it's not that big, the close-up angle I shot it from and the lack of visible camera body probably makes it look bigger than it is in reality

The main problem with it is it's slow to focus, so best kept for non-moving subjects. I have used it for bird shots though (when they're perched in a predictable position).

BTW, Does anyone else echo Mhuni's view that I shouldn't have cropped off part of the dark side of the moon?

Thanks,
R

Yes, it's not a big thing but I would also prefer the circle of the moon to be uncropped.
