New K-70 and 100-300 f4 on way

Photorumors site has picked up references to new K-70 and a patent for a new 100-300 f4 FF lens.

Curious, the lens isn't on the Pentax lens roadmap; could be interesting though.

Just because you visit a rumours site doesn't give you the right to make stuff up i.e. the title of this thread

Algernon, The name of the site is deceptive..re Pentax info they have been very reliable in the past as those of us who have followed these 'rumors' can attest to.

The lens is on a patent just applied for but people have been suggesting the need for this type of lens so no reason to suggest Ricoh are throwing away patent money because they've nothing better to do. The K-70 reference is sound given past precedents by both Ricoh and other manufacturers.

Why would they want a 100-300mm lens when everybody else moved on from that. You can buy them and a camera to fit on ebay quite cheaply.

The patent is originally from at least 2014 and the lens may have been designed years before that.

What I'm objecting to is that you have made up your own rumour that it is going to be released No doubt the rumour sites will pick that up from this site and quote it as fact when it's just nonsense.

Algernon,[b][/b the K-70 is on the official Korean Radio Research Agency site...as of yesterday like dozens of other cameras from all the world's major manufacturers...they follow a predictable well worn path to market with markers that some people have taken an interest in following...its possible the numeric moniker might vary from one market to the next but i believe this camera is on the way like the site says it is and will be available to buy probably by Christmas.

100-300 is marked as HD ...so no you can't already buy one of these and if they had no interest in continuing with it then they would have collapsed the patent before the next payment was due.

As to your emboldened text not liking the way i headlined my post...would it have passed your approval system if i had put a question mark at the end like I sometimes do?

even social media are on about the k70 it may only be entry level

The same site indicates that a new Pentax 100mp medium format camera will be launched in September. With the K-1 edging into the 645Z resolution territory this seemed the logical step, and other MF manufacturers are going that way too.

There were patents filed for many lenses that never went into production such as extra lenses for the K-01 and a 24mm f/2 for APS-C.

I'm only referring to the lens not the K-70 which should eventually be released.

Even posters in the know such as the one on DPR who posted about the K-1 having a new 43MB? (40+ anyway not sure if it was 43 or not) sensor get it wrong now and then, although he is usually correct.

Putting a ? after a misleading statement is illegal in the UK. See large signs put up and later taken down (under order) for being misleading by Everyone's favourite supermarket?

Why are you being so tetchy Algi? You know we don't encourage personal attacks on other members. If you thought the post was misleading you could have just said so without the accusations.

This sort of response is why a lot of people decline to post in forums, for fear that they'll be torn apart if they get the slightest thing wrong.

So, perhaps chill a bit and everyone will be much happier?

My original post was just simple advice to someone who might have made a mistake and not understand how his actions were unacceptable ..... Traceable proof should accompany any statements about any new products Pentax are about to release.


The OP then escalated things by saying other things like he should have indicated that he was deliberately being dishonest/misleading by putting a question mark after his made up nonsense.
