Just the title confused me ... is it a K-1 with 2 exclamation marks or a K-1 MKII ?

Anyway, my K-1 (with no exclamation marks) updated fine.

You have probably hit the nail on the head here!

At first glance it looks like K1 with two exclamation marks but I think you are correcet, the reality is that those two exclamation marks are a 'typo' by the OP.

It just goes to show how easy it is to get it wrong by taking things at face value
That's three exclamation marks.. lol..

Shouldn't be, a new update supersedes and updates all prev firmware upgrades

Judging by the signature, it is a K-1ii.

Are you copying the unzipped file to the card, or the zipped one? If you are copying the zipped one it won't work.

I just bought a brand new K-1 Mk.II with firmware 1.41 and, it will not update to save my life. I have followed the instructions to the letter. Is there a way to update the firmware the traditional way and have the camera talk to Ricoh over the Internet via a cable?

Never mind. It worked this time around.

Usual problems with updating the firmware are:

1. Not using a freshly formatted SD card

2. Not unzipping the .bin file

3. Using the wrong card slot !

It was none of those things. Sometimes it just takes a few tries for some unknown reason. I found out from reading postings on Pentax Forums that I am not alone in encountering this. It was all for naught anyway, as I chose to return the camera after just two days.
