Why has it come out sideways?

Because there's an instruction in the exif to rotate it by 90 degrees, which PU has done.

I guess the camera moved a bit during the exposure? Why didn't you up the ISO to get a faster shutter speed and a sharper image then process the raw file to bring out the shadow detail?

For an in-camera HDR and hand-held shooting, both Auto-Align and SR must be turned on in the camera.

Both were used, it was an experiment to find out what happens, hence the "soft focus".

PU should ignore camera instructions when loading an image!
