Interesting, but yes if you are checksumming pentax firmwares I'd say yes you do need a job Perhaps the revised one will remove the marks on my sensor

OK I am getting a bit confused with that. I got 1.02 in my K-5 but where and how can I see the rest and can I install the Firmware twice anyway?
I checked the link but as soon as they start with hex etc I am totally lost (sign of my age:twisted
Kind regards
SmutjeUK

It's nice to be nice!

Pentax K-5 with D-GB4 Grip, to many lenses to mention by now (serious LBA by now), TC's, Lowepro Slingshot 300 AW, Manfrotto 028 & Redsnapper RS-283 with various Heads plus various Camera Clamps (I collect them). Pentax AF 360FGZ, Pentax AF 240FT, several Metz 45 CT-1 & 5 with stands and 'Blow Up' Soft Boxes, Flash Triggers, and various Macro gear.

I would imagine this depends upon whether the camera recognises the sub version numbers as part of the decision to allow an update.

You just load the firmware in the normal way. When you switch the camera on with the menu button pressed and the new firmware on the SD card it just shows both the current firmware on the camera as version 1.02 and the firmware on the card as version 1.02 and asks if you want to load the new firmware. Select YES and it will load the newer version. The camera never displays the version numbers past the second decimal point.

I don’t know if it would reload the older sub version over the top of the new one though.

I cant see what the fuss is about, surely if the "update" or "revision" was of even the remotest significance then Pentax would have labeled it as a newer update, ie v1.03 ???
