March 2019 Panoramic Image Competition
This competition is to produce a panoramic photograph, be it with a wide angle lens and cropping it or combining several images taken at a more modest focal length. Please use this thread rather than the competition page if you wish to discuss anything regarding this competition.
Looking forward to seeing your panorama at the end of the month of March.
The competition can be found here.

The image restriction of 1000 pixels is what is suggested for the forum, but not for the Gallery. This is simply so the forum pages load faster and avoids the forum software doing resizing for us.

You will find that larger images load perfectly well into the competition are of the Gallery. See the Guidelines for details.

Revision 25 07 2008: Now that we have a Competition in the Gallery section, future weekly competitions are held there. Go to Gallery>Competitions and follow the instructions. All rules, such as they are, continue, but the size limitation is no longer necessary. Have fun!

My entry to the weekly competition was uploaded at 1410 x 600 pixels (468 kB).

Image info shows it displaying at 1,000px × 425px (332.2 kB).

I suspect John means it's okay to upload large images, e.g. my entry for this competition was about 10000 x 2740 pixels, but the site then appears to rescale images to be a maximum of 1000 pixels. So my image on this site is now only 1000 x 274 pixels, which is rather a pity as now it doesn't allow all the detail to be seen.

Mine's 7959x600 (it was about three times that, but most software struggles with the width). It displays as a rather narrow strip - probably lucky for me in this case.
