ePHOTOzine, the sister site to this one, carries reviews of smartphones, so you might find something of interest over there.
Personally I use a Pentax MX-1 for carrying everywhere and it still offers great quality despite only having a 12MP sensor. Or have you decided it must be a smartphone?

If you have a Google account and do a reset, most of your apps will repopulate your phone,- well on my Sony Xperia 1 they did.

I doubt you'll find a good camera on any mobile in that price range so I'd recommend a factory reset though you're on borrowed time if the phone can't handle the newest Android versions.

I'm no expert on smartphones but...
1. Have you put a microSD card in the phone and moved as much stuff as possible onto it to free up main memory?
2. Do you really, really need all those apps?
3. Since you like the camera, how about getting an XA2 Plus or Ultra which appear to have the same camera but with more memory?
4. Or get a cheap phone with lots of memory but mediocre camera, transfer your SIM card to the new phone, get rid of all but photographic apps from the old phone, load the new phone with other apps. Then use the old phone for taking photos and the new phone for other things. Just like carrying a phone and camera around except that the camera looks like a phone .
5. As 4, but get another XA2 (need to mark them somehow so you know which is which :shock.
As for me, I'm with John Riley. A camera for photography, a phone for phoning (and apps :wink.
Steve
PS: Why do you need to have Android 9 updated? I'm typing this on a Windows 8.1 PC (2 versions behind the latest Windows), a friend still has Windows 7 and it works fine for what they do.

Thanks for ideas and info folks
I have, almost, gone back to basics and deep cleaned loads of caches and moved all of the photos from the SONY default store onto the additiona SD RAM card. There was 32GB of free space on the 32GB inbuilt RAM - hence the problem. There is now 4.3GB free and browsing, after a full reboot, is fine again.
Thanks to your input = panic over.
The camera is good for many times when I've not got my K-3iii kit with me.
In true Blue Peter style - here's one I took earlier of Robin Hood's Bay, Yorkshire on a bright September day earlier this year.

So, I am looking at the Moto G62 which claims to have a 50mb camera (although one report lists it as a 12.5MB camera x 4!!!!!).
Many reviews say that the camera produces poor pictures with poor colour saturation.
So any opinions/experiences that could help me would be appreciated.
Looking at a budget of £150-£200 for an Android with a good camera, unlocked and new - not Huawei and similar (although it seems that, apart from Samsung, virtually all cameras are made in China)
Thanks
