Daft comment, have u set a low enough shutter speed, set the dial to X or manually set something lower than 1/125th Sec.

Hopefully i can help with this....the firmware update bit i mean.
Ive got a metz 50af-1, and having checked ealier (after reading this thread), it was on firmware 2.0.
Now, im not tech savvy at all....but ive got a son who is!!
So,
On the firmware update instructions, it says that the computer will recognise the device (i think its step 3.2).....mine didnt recognise it either.
Ignore that step, and go to step 4.0. Double click "FirmwareUpdateGB.exe", and follow the instructions from there.
Im now on firmware v5.0

Holding "mode" while turning the flash on will tell you what firmware you have.

Are you able to try the flash on another pentax camera, or another compatible flash of any make on yours, might just highlight where the fault may lie.

Hi Chris,
I've tried it on both my K30 and my fathers K3 no joy with both i also have a sigma flash which works fine on both cameras. Worked perfectly when last used a month or so ago, all operations seem to work just doesn't fire flash.
