HELP!

Can't get my card to latch into the slot on my K5....
Took it out 30 mins before to load images onto pc & now....

Anyone know what could be going on?
Never done this before.
Just springs back out.
Can't see anything in the bottom of the slot to stop the card going in far enough to latch.
New card, only 1 week old.
Tried with another card = same.
Tried battery out/in, no effect.
Pretty sure it's "mechanical"'

Is there an easy way into the slot to check......?

Thanks in anticipation,

Roger.

O.K., Gents.

Here's a thing!

New card, sandisk,32GB extreme...

Spoke to Alan Marlow in shepperton, whom I've used before. "Might even be a bit of debris fallen in the slot......."
Could be card reader.
£85 odd.

Coker Amateur Repairs swung into action.
Blew down the slot.
turned camera on its side, slot down.
Gave the K5 a little tap.
ET VOILA!
little piece of black plastic OFF THE TOP OF THE (NEW!!!) CARD fell out !

Job done!

Alan has welcomed me to the Amateur Camera Repairers' Club!

Anyone had bits of card fallen off into their camera before?

Should be covered by their warranty.

Only problems i've ever had before. (Sliders falling off ) Have always been on Sandisk cards. After the third one Sandisk refused to exchage them under their lifetime warranty scheme. Simple solution. Stopped buying Sandisk and no problems since.

I had the same problem with Sandisk cards, I just stuck a bit of (thin) sellotape over the cut-out where the slider was and problem solved

Had the same problem with my K1.

I took it to Johnsons, where the engineer looked into the slot with a magnifying glass and said "this is your lucky day" before extracting a small sliver of a SanDisk card.

Just cost me half a gallon of diesel..

I had a Sandisk with a damaged but not broken off plastic contacts separator; it wouldn’t download in a card reader but thankfully the K1 could still read it so I attached the camera with a cable instead and replaced the card afterwards. Since then I have used the cable attachment rather than the more convenient taking out of the sd card to avoid damaging them in future.
