Maybe I am just stupid, but...

The other day, I was looking on a newly made lot of my K5 pictures on my computer screen.

Looking closely I noticed some spots. They where always on the same physical condition .
On each picture i had some near the bottom and one on the left hand side.
I bought one of this sticky cleaning gadgets. ( not cheap).
When it arrived I set up the camera in its sensor cleaning position and started to use the cleaning stick according to the instruction.
After the cleaning process, I made a picture of a white sheet of paper and totally over exposed it. I downloaded it and bloody hell, the spots where still on the same position. nothing had changed. I repeated the process 3 more times: N0 good.
Discouraged and upset that I have to send the camera in for cleaning, I stopped the picture view. and looked at something else on the screen.
What did I see: The bloody spots where still visible.

The spots where dirt on the screen. I cleaned it , felt like an idiot and was relieved.

Next time I know, what to do first.

Regards, Horst

Oh Yes
I had same problem it was only the fact I was too scared to clean the sensor myself that saved me. Problem is I often think the worst when a few seconds careful thought can save effort and stress.

I've sometimes found myself trying to clone out spots on my computer screen....a couple of times I've thought the cloning tool is not working properly until I've realised.

Hands up all those who can not say "been there - done that".

I spent ages trying to clone out a non-existent seagull last week - what are the chances of seagull shaped dust on your monitor?

No matter how many lenses I have owned - I have always needed just one more

I think more of us have made this type of error than will admit it

I too have thought that there have been dust bunnies present when all was need was to wipe the screen

This reminded me about my Kindle e-book reader adventure. It developed some sort of an extra information on its display. Simply looked faulty by displaying some watermark-like shapes against the text. I phoned the Amazon in and reported it only to find out later, that it was just some dust on the surface of the screen. Well..

Get yourself a dual monitor setup? Makes life so much easier in all sorts of ways and its easy to set up. Would have saved you this trouble.

Never had that problem.

My screen is dirty anyway. I just move the image around the screen and if the spot moves with it I know to do something about it. Usually its just the sky I check and I always do it full 1:1 resolution
