Luminosity Masks in Adobe Elements

I occasionally use a luminosity mask when i import images back into elements (12) from Silver Efex Pro 2. By changing the opacity you can alter the level of colour in the image, and hence the 'impact' of the SEfex Pro alterations.
I only tend to use this when i want to get an increase in the contrast and the structure (particularly the fine structure) in an image.
I'm not sure if this is really what you are after, but thought I'd raise in anyway.

Unfortunately I only have Elements 13 so I downloaded a set of actions from Tony Kuyper Photography, supposedly for Elements. However the instructions are a little sketchy, maybe 'cause the actions are free, so I can't get them to work.
