I revisited this old image from my A50 f2.8 macro the other day - shot at f2.8. It is a helluva lens, with uber-sharpness and beautiful rendering (the transitions in this photo are impressive). And yet because it's MF and doesn't really suit my style of photography (and/or my focusing ability) I hardly ever use it. I must put this right. If there's a better lens in Pentax mount, I want one.

Picked up a cheap "A" 50mm f1.7 on Ebay, forgot how well the old manual lenses perform.

The SMC Pentax-A 50mm F1.4 is a fantastic lens for IR, which in fact is what I use it for most. I nowadays use it on a converted Sony Nex 5N, but here's a couple taken on a Pentax.
The blurriness at the bottom of the first one is due to the window it was taken through and not the lens.

Amazing shots, Jonathon.
