Lens Shootout: Pentax Prime Lenses 50-55mm
This shot was taken with FA50 wide open at f1.4 1/60 ISO 800 on a K10d (before any p/p).
I chose this shot because to me it is typical of the look of the FA50 wide open - not particularly sharp and slightly 'dreamy' looking. Can be quite pleasant and can of course be adjusted to suit afterwards.
TBH I don't use it much since I bought the FA43 unless I really need f1.4
50 mm f1.4 FA At f2.8
50mm f1.4 FA At f5.6
Smc Pentax (not Tukumar)55 mm M f1.8 At F5.6
Smc Pentax (not Tukumar) 55 mm M f1.8 At F2.8
SMC Pentax (not Tukumar)55mm M goes from F1.8/F2.8/F4/F5.6
FA 50mm goes from F1.4/F2/F2.8/F4/F5.6.
just outside your limit but close a Zenit Helios 44M-4 58mm f2 came with my father in law,s old Zenit 11 he gave me last year along with a photax 135 f3.5. just put it on K5 and did a quick snap across the roof tops. straight raw to jpeg conversion ,i was quite surprised at the result but have not used it since. think i will be having revisited this pic.

Both shots with this lens look to be at f/2.8 ?
Looks a lot more interesting than the 50mm FA 1.4
which is the most boring of the Pentax 50mm's
I sold mine because it was so dull
The 'A' series is much better f/1.7 or f/1.4

one was f2.8 1/125 iso 1600 and other f5.6 1/125 iso 6400
That's for the FA Lens only...... Look at the Exif data.
The other lens is 1/125th ISO800 for both shots
Maybe the blades are sticking?

It doesn't have the clinical sharpness of some of the newer lenses, but still a good performer
More from the Tak, which I believe is optically the same as the K, probably taken at f2, certainly no less than 2.8:

Here's my one and only shot from the FA50mm f1.4. It will either come out of the box or go into the classifieds, haven't decided yet.

Lots of film bodies, a couple of digital ones, too many lenses (mainly older glass) and a Horseman LE 5x4.

I have four such primes but I only use one. I'm particularly interested in seeing images from the FA50mm 1.4 as it gets both rave reviews and poor reviews.
I'll start with a few shots and add more later if it gets going. Comments are appreciated and chinwag is good but I'd really like to see lots of piccies:
