Lens hood for FA 35/2

Hi all,

I've recently acquired a (Samsung-badged) FA 35/2, but it didn't come with the included hood. Might anyone know where I could find a replacement hood that would fit it? If so, might you please let me know? :

I'd prefer a snap-on hood to a screw-on type, and it would be a bonus if it could be stored on the lens in reverse.

Hi Hylas,
I have exactly the same issue. The Pentax part should still be available and the part number is PH-RB49, however I’ve had one on order from SRS for a couple of months yet and Pentax have yet to deliver it to them. (They are listed at about £21) I did have a plan B in the B&H in the US have them on their web site for $24, but I notice they they are currently our of stock as well.

I guess its just a wait for Pentax to deliver!

Best

I have a pentax 85 mm lens hood that fits my 35 2.4 and does not vinette.
My suggestion is ANY standard or collapsable 35-50mm (49 mm diameter) lenshood will work. Optex and optima brands are usually easy to find.
Fired many shots. Didn't kill anything.

I purchased a lens hood from that seller and didn't recieve anything, I had too resort to a paypal claim to get my money back, He will go too any extreme to avoid refunding, like sending paypal, fake tracking numbers, and using stalling tactics so the 45 day claim limit expires.

Buy at your own risk.

That's annoying - I could do with one for my 35mm f2.4 but if the seller's a crook I'll have to keep looking. Do any honest ebay sellers have the same item (given all the HK-based dealers seem to buy from the same factories)?

If the filter screw is 49mm, then get a rubber hood from a camera shop.
I have put one on my 35mm F2.4 and is perfect - no vignetting at all. Plus is acts as a protector too. Cost? About £6!

The older rectangular, metal clip on hoods for the 28/3.5 and 35/2 will work well on this lens and look good too.

Yep, but just try finding one! Genuine hoods for most Pentax lenses seem like gold dust.

if you would be ok with screw on hood, just look for Nikon hoods, they are great and work like charm. Dealers? There is a shop called aperture in London, that sells used Nikon hoods in various conditions, give them a call...

Thanks everyone for the avalanche of advice and options! I've located a rubber hood off amazon that seems to fit alright, though the OCD in me wishes it fit on the specialised thread that the Pentax PH-RB49 would. NickW: If it doesn't work for me, I might end up placing an order with SRS too. Perhaps they only get shipments for these things quite rarely; but that's par for the course for a lens that's out of production.

I'm slightly amazed that Pentax aren't making another batch of them, now the 35/2.4 is gaining popularity.
