Latest Financials released for Ricoh...Not good

Figures for 9 months just gone...overall profit margins down substantially from 12 months previously...this despite a major cost cutting exercise.

Smart Vision operating division which includes both Pentax and Ricoh cameras (and lenses too ?) performed very poorly...overall sales down from £128M to £95.5M.

Can't say i'm at all surprised but very sad nonetheless.

This year will probably decide the future of the camera division one way or the other.

Figures on Pentaxrumors just below the K3II news.

Two years figures cannot be looked at in isolation. That £128M figure the previous year could have been exceptionally high, which it might have been given better than expected K-1 sales when it was new. There hasn't been much (anything?) new to tempt the market lately so the drop isn't that great given that.
As you suggest, maybe something new is imminent.

95M doesn't sound much in a global sense, when you factor in sales of K-1 and DFA glass which has been coming on stream....

Pentax has been doomed since the days of my most recent acquisition (P50)...I think these numbers just reflect the trend by the whole industry to be honest.

Ricoh wish that were the case I am sure, but that figure is sales , not profit.

It's a reflection on the industry at this given point. I'm sure Ricoh is not ready to toss in the towel yet.
