KS2 Tehering

Is there a way to tether the K-s2 with a USB cable? I have been searching and can not find a yes or no answer. The WiFi takes way too much battery to be of any use. Looking at creating some time lapse, but would like to not have to click the remote every second, plus it will not be as smooth as I want. Any help with this would be appreciated, Thanks.

Doesn't the K-S2 have time-lapse built in? It is called "Interval shooting" and is one of the several available drive modes (see p. 35 of the Start Guide). I have never used it with my K-S2 but it appears to allow one to set repeating shots at intervals settable from 2 seconds to 24 hours, with anything from two to 2000 exposures in the series. It will even let you set a start time, rather than "Immediate".

Tethering would be nice to have, but if you want time lapse, this seems the way to do it. As you noted, there is also the infra-red remote control of exposure, which is useful when the camera is on a flimsy tripod. Pity that the sensor is at the front of the camera body, but I have used this as a no-touch option with a K-x, putting a scrap of aluminium kitchen foil in front of the camera sensor, to reflect the IR beam from the gizmo.

BTW: should we be welcoming you to the Group?

USB tethering via a computer? If so, then check out free software called PKTether, free tethering software for Pentax cameras
