K5iis and 2.8 lenses

Hello

Odd question.

I have read that my k5iis has a 'linear flux' central focusing point.

I have been using a Pentax 16-45 as the Sigma 17-70 (HSM 2nd version without OS) seemed to miss a lot.

Recently used a blower brush in the mirror box and tried using the Sigma. It now has a great hit rate.

Is that becuase I tried to clean the AF sensor, tha an older HSM needs use, or the fact that it is a 2.8 means better focus?

Or is it a combination?

All the best!

Muck on the AF sensor could well have been responsible for AF problems. Never had the problem myself (so far and touching wood...) but have read accounts by folk who have (e.g. link).

You mentioning the 16-45mm has made me remember how much I used to use that lens and how much I liked the results. Then I got the 16-85mm, mainly for the extra reach and WR, and have hardly used its predecessor since. Note to self: get the 16-45mm out of retirement and play with it again!
