What would you plan to use it for (I know, taking photos) i.e. specifcally what type of images will you use it for the most? Is it for studio work, landscapes or just general photographic use?

David has asked one critical question. The other is what is the output for?
If for the web, it doesn't matter much. If for posters in a huge rail terminal, then maybe it does.
I don't think resolution will be so high as to make any particular lenses redundant. But just as the 18-55mm was upgraded to meet the requirements of new sensors, we will reach that point I think quite soon.

The output has to be the best possible, that way it can be used for anything!
The type of photography?, well I suppose you'd see above wouldn't you

I would definitely add a DA 12-24. A fantastic lens.
And on the longer side, given you would have covered up to 77, maybe a 60-250? That is if you cannot find a Sigma 100-300 f.4.....

A dream can often remain just that. It will also mean a lot of overlap
There is a lot of different legacy stuff that still is sublime as well, some will cost you a leg for sure.
Kinds like:
'Sigma 50-150mm f/2.8 II EX DC APO HSM' for sports.
'Leica R Summicron 90mm f/2 APO' for portraits.
'Voigtlander SL I 125 f/2.5 APO-Lanthar' for macro.

You can compare the K-5/K-5II with the K-5IIs here.
There isn't a lot of difference, which corroborates other comparions I've seen.
So I agree, no current lenses to be made redundant. That's not to say that sensor progress won't overtake current lens resolution in the future.
If you want absolute resolution ( and the subject is static ) why not take Gigapixel photos by the stitch together method. PTgui is great for this

My motive behind this thread are to really find out what you would love to put on a IIs if money was of little an issue as possible.
I'm drawn to the 31 ltd due to it being a cracking lens, or so I've read anyway. And as I've always lusted after a 70/77 ltd they're on my list. The 60-250 is a good call to

The same as any other Pentax slr. So yes the FALtd's on and also a DA*300, A*200 macro. In fact as money were no object I'd just buy all the decent lenses for the hell of it.
One thing that bugs me about the 31 (which I don't have and probably won't get for this reason) is the built in hood meaning attaching square format filter systems is a pita.

After the 31 & 77, I'd choose the 15 before the 43. But I do like having a wide angle for landscapes. Then maybe the 100 Macro.
Actually if you substitute DA35 plastic for FA31 limited that's the path I'm already on.

I agree -- but it's readily overcome. I've fixed a short heliopan extension that remains on permanently and just peeks slightly beyond the hood. It allows the fixing of a square filter system, even if the filters cannot be as close to the lens as may be ideal.

Pentax has too many good lenses. The FA 43mm Limited and FA 77mm Limited have the most excellent rendering. They are the last two lenses I would sell.
I didn't buy the FA 31mm Limited since it didn't jazz me the same way, but it is sharp edge to edge. The DA Limiteds are good for what they are but a bit too slow and no aperture dial. I don't own any at present. Also think about the 50/1.2 in K or A versions (same optics) if you want something insanely fast and smooth as butter.
The Taks and K lenses have an old fashioned rendering and great feel in the hand. But I wouldn't choose them for the modern look of "sharpness" and micro-contrast.
The only zoom I can bear to use is the DA 12-24mm, since it is so convenient for interiors. Better IQ and a lot more versatile than the fixed 15mm.
For street shots I'd recommend a Komine made 24mm or 28mm close focus Vivitar. The zoom is a bit clunky for that purpose.
There are lots of good macros. I own a Leica, Vivitar Series 1, etc.

On truth I have never found a Leica lens that was "better" than a Pentax. Then again I haven't used those worth $10K.
I did use some fantastic Zeiss glass back in the day, with a Contax. I think they beat Leica optics. But their lenses continue to be over-large and quite pricey for manual focus.
Really, Pentax glass continues to be underestimated.
