Morning

Came across this thread on the US forum last night, and, from what I read, it does appear to work. Allows KAF4 lenses and faster focusing with some lenses.

Not yet done but thinking about it!
K-3 II, K-3 and K-30 (now running the Hacked K-50 f/w, so it thinks it is one of those ), & some Sigma and Pentax lenses (and a lot of old 35mm gear!) - and now a K-70 from SRS

Thanks for that link. I'm now reading thru the users comments. Sounds good so far. My K-30 is hardly used these days and doesn't seem to have a value on the 2nd hand market worthy of its feature set so I might give this a go. More for interest than anything as I don't have any KAF4 lenses yet.

It begs the question, was the K-50 nothing more than a firmware update to the K-30 by Pentax?

That, and a few cosmetic changes, was what was suspected at the time the K-50 was released, but "everyone" was warned not to try to load the k-50 f/w on the K-30 as it would brick the latter.

If you take it apart you will find a Spotmatic inside!

Hey Mr Pentax how about some "Spotmatic Inside" Stickers

NB - this "update" also allows the use of (some?) WiFi cards.

PS: some people over there are calling this K-30/K-50 "hybrid" the "K-40"
