K-7 slow to process RAW images after installing firmware 1.1

I upgraded my K-7 to firmware 1.1 yesterday & now it takes about 4 seconds for the card access lamp (nr. the menu button) to light up. After that the processing time seems normal.
I tried another formatted SD card but the result was the same. The camera appears to be working normally apart from that.
Has anyone had a similar experience or have I done something wrong?

Nope.
Make sure you don't have some of the corrections turned on? HDR, shadow correction, hilight correction or distortion correction, etc...?

I've done a bit of playing finding that it would only fire 4 shots at High Speed continuous using either jpg or pef files which also seemed odd so I reset to defaults. Voila! This fixed both problems.
I've now reset the K-7 to my preferred settings & it works fine so it still seems to me that the firmware u/g had something to do with the problem, suddenly rearing it's head as it did. I rang the Oz Pentax distributor & they said the firmware u/g couldn't cause the problem. If it wasn't the firmware u/g I can't think what could have been the culprit.
The good news is it's all OK now.

just looked at the uk site and firmware 1.1 is not listed for K7 only 1.01. which site did you pick it up from?

Could the new firmware have smuggled in improved shadow noise removal when using 'shadow correction'?

I reset to defaults & all went well so then I progressively added SR, shadow & highlight correction testing each time & it works fine. I can't explain it.

Firmware version 1.10 was released in July 2010. I wonder when Pentax UK will catch up.

It is worth the update, phase detection focus in Live view for still and video have been significantly improved! It is now almost as fast as using the contrast detection method in live view which brings the mirror down then back up! Also, focus on half button press helps usability a lot for me.

I havn't checked write speeds, but will do this weekend.

Has anyone tried the update to Pentax Utilities?

I have just updated the firmware to V1.1 and have the same problem as Wadna. Unfortunately I can still only shoot 4 frames in continuous, after a reset. Also, after performing the reset, several of the menu items I had changed since getting the camera had not actually reset to defaults: in fact, the only settings that appeared to change after a reset were highligh and shadow correction, file type and the horizon indiacator. Any ideas??

v1.1 here and fired off 8 RAW+ before it slowed down (buffer filled).

I didn't notice any change when I upgraded.

But I did do a factory default at one point maybe that cleared it out without me realizing.
Lurking is shirking.!

I would try another reset.
In the manual there is a long list of settings that cuuld be changed back to default if the camera is reset (pps. 284-289)
On p 281 is the list of settings in memory (2 pages on the camera screen) unaffected by a reset.
