If they don't come up with something soon I might just swap it all in for something else, while His Nibs is still wanting to buy me another camera.
Either that or buy the last K3ii for a song and pray nothing goes wrong with it.

It will still be a new camera, just of a model/type that’s a pretty old design when you purchased it new

We’re overdue for a new model in this APS-C space. The risk of ii models is they are a spruce up of existing, and the K-3ii felt like a life extension of the original. Definitely time for something really new here.

I know some have skipped the K-3 altogether, and clung to the K-5 until something else comes along for example...

That's me. Hanging on to my K5ii. I couldn't afford or justify a K3 or K3ii when they came out, and by the time I could afford one they seemed old models and I was pretty sure something new would appear just after I bought one, so I waited some more.
And I continue to wait. Pentax Users have to have patience.

The K-3 was a huge step up on the K-5, in some areas.

For several though, these improvements weren't in areas that they were particularly concerned with.

Given we'll have to wait a long time again for any model after these new one/s are released, they'll be make or break for some.

I have kept my K3 although I now have the D500 for my main hobby of bird photography. However it is not a better camera than my K3 in a large number of areas. It is only really clearly better because of AF functionality which is massive and the availability of excellent affordable 3rd party birding lenses like the Sigma, Tamron and Nikon lenses in the 150- 600mm range. I can't tell you how good these are these days. My Sigma is on a par with my DA*300mm. That is the two things Ricoh cannot solve. They can't or won't do anything about AF despite the complaints for years and unfortunately they are unlikely to get any of the new stellar third party lenses. But for sheer image quality, ergonomics and robustness the K3 is still at least as good as a D500 and so I still have my K3.

I'm keeping my K-3. It is a superb all-rounder, I don't specialise in any particular genre so my K-3 does duties for gig photography, wildlife and landscape, as well as general walk-around stuff. It does the job for me and never misses a beat. IMO it's a better camera than my K-5iis, although I'm keeping that one too.

I might swap my new K-1 for the new one if it has Cat Detection AF and Twig Detection AF --

Based on most of your recent posts Algi, I imagine the best new feature for you would be PUB Detection!!

Yes, and to facilitate that Ricoh are abandoning their relationship with Tamron and starting a new co-developmental joint venture with ....... Spec Savers!

At least then we'd be guaranteed some new Pentax lenses too.
