Beat me to it Steve! Now before anyone bangs on (You know who you are!) about the fact that it's a PC Mag and not a Photo Mag, bear in mind they do review a lot of Photo Gear on a regular basis, and from memory don't ever seem to like anything, (Save for Olympus) so it's a bit of a coup really...
Cheers Jules...

At the end of the day they can only work with what they are given Jules.

True but they could at least make an effort! Ricoh has brought about one body of their own so far, lenses still to come, they seem to be critising the horse because the carts broke!
It is not RICOH'S fault, it was Hoya's I'll get all politcal now and blame the last labour government because the street light has just gone out outside my house...
Cheers Jules...

Why should the reviewer have to make the effort, it's down to Pentax to supply the best combination they have to get the best review. Unfortunately the fastest zoom lens Pentax currently produce is the 18-135mm and had they used that the IQ would have probably been commented on (even though it's a superb lens for what it is).

Until Ricoh start producing faster focusing lenses there will always be comments about af speed ... how fast they release those lenses is entirely down to them.

It looks as though all reviews are saying pretty much the same thing, an unusual degree of consensus.

Incidentally, the review linked to did not say the K-3 had sluggish AF...

It actually says very little about stills af and nothing about the tracking capability ... but then maybe they just didn't have the time to do a full review

(possibly because they were too busy tinkering with the latest Asus motherboard or Intel processor)

John, the link Jules provided does refer to sluggish AF in the cons section.

The sooner Pentax/Ricoh stick the DC motor or faster AF into the DA* lens the better. Until then they will struggle on the likes of 60-250, 300, 50-135 to not have this problem.

Regards

George

I have to say though that after looking at matwhittington's leaf pictures the level of detail in that sensor is breathtaking.

For anyone wanting a macro/landscape/portrait/ anything not moving in an erratic manner camera it has to be the best (APS-C) out there at the moment.

Edit : Added APS-C

Thanks, I was reading the text and didn't get as far as the pros and cons. They contradict themselves then in their conclusion?
Best regards, John

The What Camera review did.

I will still be persevering with Pentax for my karting shots, because when I do get a goodun, it sure is a goodun

Well my point though badly made mike was wishing for lenses but what I hear the FF k3 BIG is taking priority but maybe then we will get a fast trio to go with it...
