*istD Samples
Thanks for the images! I've routinely used ISO1600 for concerts - it's fabulous! However, I do find that a wash through with NeatImage (using the profiles I did that are available online) work a treat. It has even rescued a couple of ISO3200 shots I thought were for the bin.
Here's a sample: http://www.pbase.com/image/23620197
And the whole gallery: http://www.pbase.com/mattmatic/pg2003nov
Also just took a load of the school pantomime, all at ISO1600, and the cast were just blown away by the quality Looks like I've got a job for the next panto
I find the real test is going back to film or to another digital camera (especially consumer cameras) - they seem to have soooo much noise compared to the *istD!

The quality of the 200 and 400 was obvious, but I wanted to see the 800 and 1600 in particular. The 800 is great! The 1600 is noisy and I would only use it for doing BW prints (I love grainy BW anyways!)
There are some artifacts in these close-ups since I set the camera to +2 sharpening. I'll try some more with no sharping.
Captured: RAW
WB: Flash (just to increase warmth)
f22 in all photos, mirror lock-up, aperture priority
NO adjustments were made to these photos. These are straight from the camera and cropped in Photoshop CS
(no comments about my stupid subject setup)
Initial set-up (resized):
100% Crop:
If anyone wants to see the full version of any of the ISO setting samples just let me know and I'll email one to you. (18MB tiff)
