*ist D - HELP!

I just got a brand new *ist D delivered today, and I can't get the shutter to realease. I can turn it on, go through the menu, but AV - - - keeps flashing on the display and I can't get it to take any pictures! I looked in the manual under troubleshooting, but I didn't see anything for the problem that I'm having. I've taken out the batteries, microdive, and removed the lens and then put them back, but no luck. Any ideas?

I had this fault with mine and it turned out to be a problem with the contacts on the camera body and any lens I used. I returned it to Camerworld and it was replaced by return.

The camera behaves as if no lens is attached.

I suggest speaking to the supplier and asking for a replacement.

I know this is late, but the issue sounds to me like the aperture ring is not on A. and if this is a manual lens then you have to set the mode to hyper-program mode and set it to work with "other than A" on aperture.

Hi All,

Been away for a while....

yes i think the previous post by "Guest" is right. If you are using a lense with an appreture ring, you must set it to the "A" position. Buy defaut the *ist-D is set to operate with this setting.
