I ordered those a while ago, never had the chance to use them, but I noticed that they are all scratched. Should I be fussy and return them while I am still on time? Or I wouldn't care as probably it won't affect the final result?

Why keep a damaged. Product?

the only reason is that it's quite annoying to return it...so if it actually doesn't affect the quality I would keep it or ask for a partial refund. I need to do several tests and the scratches are really hard to take in a photo

Were they new or second hand? Also how long have you had them now? If you've had them a fair time the seller may suggest that you have caused the scratches (even if you haven't.)

They were new and I emailed them through eBay right away so the proof is there anyway. A this point I'll some tests first and decide what to do. I am about disappointed by these gels, I thought they would have been a bit more rigid. They are quite flimsy and hard to handle instead. Still not sure how to handle them without leaving finger prints on top.

Gels are often used for control of lighting rather than for imaging through. For lighting the scratches won't make any difference.
If they where sold as lighting gels I'm not convinced you'd have any comeback, if their listing suggests they can be used for imaging then you have good grounds IMO.

Unfortunately they do scratch very easily, or I'm sure they'd be much more popular.

If you've had them for less than 14 days you can just return them under Consumer Contracts Regulations.

these are the ones to put on the back of the lens, I am not sure how the optic physic works at the point.

From the PayPal Guidelines
If the seller has accurately described an item, but you’re just not happy with it, if you fail to open a dispute within 180 days of purchase, or if your account is not in good standing, you are mostly likely not covered by PayPal Buyer Protection.
So refund isn't a given if the item is as described.

if it's scratched it's obviously not as described Anyway paypal very often closes a dispute in favor of the buyer, that's why the sellers are not very happy with it.

Are they actually genuine, or are they perhaps some other gels cut to simulate the Irix ones, ie fake?

from what I can see (package) and reputation of the company, they are genuine. Why?
JAK

Why? Because if they were sold to you as high quality optical gels and they're not it sounds as if you've been sold a pup. But I haven't seen them so ultimately only you can decide what to do with them. Don't forget you asked for advice in the first place!
