In praise of the humble MV1

I'd say that's a keeper!

The images look OK and it seems that the meetering's working fine.

Must dig out one of the MVs and give it a spin, when the weather's better that is.

Only just signed up to the forum and noticed this thread whilst browsing. I have a couple of MV bodies and actually quite like the simplicity of them. They are nice and compact and can be used pretty much as a 'point and shoot' with the added versatility of interchangeable lenses - kind of where the digital market has started to move. I bought a very rough MV recently for £4 just for the winder cap to replace the one on my MG. Rather than just throw it away I decided to 'pimp' it.

For some reason the I don't seem to be able to embed img links directly from Photobucket, so here's a link to the slideshow.

Looks good - you need to redo the Pentax lettering now! I've got an orange ME Super which I need to strip and respray as my first attempt is flaking off horribly.

I think the MV and 50mm f2 are probably the smallest and lightest Pentax SLR judging by the weights quoted on the K mount site.

Lots of film bodies, a couple of digital ones, too many lenses (mainly older glass) and a Horseman LE 5x4.

Like DM I feel you need to re-do the lettering, ASAHI Pentax in black would look good.

I honestly wish you lot would stop talking about old cameras, it makes me regret selling my Om30 And worse, I keep trawling ebay looking at Super A's and stuff.

Now I'll have to go and meditate for an hour chanting.....

The MV and MV1 were released at virtually the same time and ran together for a while. The minor differences have been noted.

They are basically simplified ME-based designs. There is a mint MV sat on our shelves - Sue's first SLR.

my first slr was also an MV backmin 1981, Imhave a soft spot for them
