I feel your pain even from 200 miles away.
Hopefully you're not on such strong mess for the foot that you can't enjoy (moderate :wink self medication this weekend.
Best wishes for the foot recovery

Sorry to hear that Gareth. I suppose you wouldn't be using the sigma anyway whilst you're tarsal etc is mending?

Just make sure you don't drop that huge lens on your other foot, Gareth... when it arrives.
Sorry to hear of your injury. Perhaps you'll be able to limp down to that lovely Glamorgan coast and take a few pictures. (We were there last weekend and it was lovely.)
Get well soon.

Thanks all! I'm so annoyed but I think part of that is frustration at having to be sat down all day as my leg has to remain elevated.
I was going to be taking two folding chairs and photographing the year 1 (5 year old) football team practise we've just got set up but that's out the window now.
I mean, talk about incompetence! What annoyed me was the local UPS depot and the customer service department both pretty much said tough luck to the whole issue and any potential lost revenue! They balls up but wash their hands and refuse to do anything bar "we'll oversee the safe return to you .... on Monday!"
This week I've been reading Michael Freeman's The Photographers Eye. What a learning curve! Who knew composition was so complicated!
Anyway, another glass of red wine, a cold sore tablet and then bed

I don't think Guinness is strong enough. What about a bottle of nice Bourbon Whisky, something like Maker's Mark?
Sorry to hear about your woes Gareth, hope you are better soon.
Cheers
David

Hope you get the rest needed and recover as soon as you can The only thing I'm suffering from at the moment is 'PBS' (processing backlog syndrome), so you may find this is your chance to avoid that and crack on with editing loads of shots ....I love dipping into DNGs taken in past years, and not yet edited .... It's often fun to remember a place again or see the kids younger .....
Now if you think Freeman has made composition look complicated, while you've got the time then order yourself his book 'Perfect Exposure' to see how difficult metering and exposure can be!!

Thanks guys, I'm just looking forward to having mobility back. The meds are working a treat, 5 horse pills a day and my lip now looks like a lip and I'm only one day one. Plus the rim and coke makes things seem better!
Nigel, did you buy volume one or two as I see there are two books with the later being an updated version?
Steve, I'll text you now, to make myself feel better I've just bought some new studio flash heads but the dudes in Penarth if you're free tomorrow for a peg leg lift?!!

The horse pills are clearly working - though which way might be another question?

1) Snaps a tarsal bone and tear the ligaments and tendons in my foot resulting in cast and 6 weeks total recovery..
2) Have a monster cold sore on my lip, I mean huge, now on meds but it's proper got me down. Like a huge solid numb lump that makes drinking interesting.
3) And this is the worst that's properly just finished my week off. My Sigma 70-200mm f2.8 II Macro lens was due to be delivered back from Sigma today, repaired with a firmware update and new mount on it, delivery courier via UPS. Waited in all day and nothing. Checked their tracking link on the email and apparently it was delivered at 2:41 to a Mr Forrest. WHO! No one of that name in my street and I've been here all day. Called them and after a load of digging it appears they delivered it to the wrong address! A bulk order to a business not even close to where I life and they accidentally delivered my lens to there. To make matters worse, the business isn't open till Monday FFS!
Can't even moan to Sigma as they're now closed till Monday also.
If I had the energy I'd cry
