Gotta be careful though. I once drove off in our estate car with the tailgate up and a very worried dog in the back staring out into the big, wide world....

Beware also for gusts of wind. A couple of years ago we were parked at the top of Blue Bank (Whitby) eating fish and chips and admiring the view. Missus went to fetch something from the boot. A gust of wind whipped the tailgate up, broke both struts, and then it dropped on her head. I swear she has never been the same since....

If that happened with me van it would probably throw them clean over the top to the front...
