How to make a batch copy of photos but smaller size?

Hi,
I have over 300 photos that I edited in LR, exported them to a folder and named them manually.

1. How can I make a copy of these photos but smaller size? (so that I can give person high res and low res copies)? I don't want to export again from LR as I'll have to rename them all again.

2. Is there any way to copy the names from the photos in my folder to my photos in LR?

Thanks,
Pa.
Cheers,
Pa

The old favourite FastStone. Just make a copy of the folder and direct the resized files to the folder and allow overwrite.

In Photoshop, File > Scripts > Image processor.

You can select the source folder, select a target folder, select an image size say 800x600, then hit Run.

This will make a copy of your pictures, with the same names, but resize them to be either 800px or 600px along one edge, depending on its orientation.

Patrick.

You can do all this in Lightroom, in the export module from the Library.

Select all the photos you want to export then hit the "Export" button at bottom left (or right click and select Export).

Once in the Export module you have loads of option to choose from, expand each tab and explore, specifically Export Location, File-Naming and Image Sizing,

Remember, what you do in the ex[ort module does "NOT" effect you original files, so have a play and I'm sure you will get the hang of it very quickly.

If you don't want to re rename your files again in LR just import them back in to LR then export them again at the desired resolution

http://www.obviousidea.com/windows-software/light-image-resizer/ - easiest/fastest software for batch resizing I've come across over the years; there is even an option to trigger it from right click menu.

Similar to above.

I use this to do what you are after directly from the Windows Explorer folder window.

Select the images you want smaller versions of, perhaps all of them but it works on a range from one to all).
Right click and select the option you're after.
Will keep the original file, and add a size to the file name of the smaller copy it makes.
Super easy and free.

Irfanview link or FastStone Resizer link.
Both good. Both Free. Both easy to use.

All good suggestions but Patrick already has what he needs, just needs to do a bit of learning.

I run the two options (Lightroom and Image Resizer powertoy).

For a quick resize the Windows explorer file menu approach works well, and doesn't require you to restart lightroom to achieve. ie it's the fastest method if Lightroom is not already running.
