More money than sense.

The great story of 'must buy expensive camera for good pictures' rather than learn to use a camera.

His puzzled look might imply that the guy had some indication in the VF that something was wrong, like exposure. It's obvious he couldn't work out why.

It's not the camera that makes the photographer, it's... Ah what the hell I give up.

I am slightly surprised that Leica never developed some form of idiot-proofing where lens caps are concerned. Maybe a simple plunger held down by the cap which locks the shutter?

I'm sure the quality of the photos of the inside of his lenscap are far sharper with nicer bokeh than any lenscap you ever shot with your amateurish Pentax... and the real pros can spot the difference in the 4x6 prints as well!

My take on "Idiot Proofing" anything? As soon as you make something "Idiot Proof"... they will just make a better idiot.
Fired many shots. Didn't kill anything.

Well yes...

I've got an old Lubitel 166U here (TLR). The simple solution to avoiding accidentally leaving the lower lens cap on? Both caps are part of one plastic moulding so you can't remove one but not the other!

You can however forget to wind the film on, forget to cock the shutter, wind on too far because you weren't watching the little numbers on the film backing paper as they scrolled past the red-tinted window...

I seem to remember something about the 60's fashion tog Duffy leaving
the lens cap on a Leica on his first job

There was something wrong with the Pentax K2? I think you could
set the exposure compensation to =/- 2 stops and then forget about
it. I think they put a reminder (orange popup) in the K2DMD ?

Those two have always puzzled me slightly. The K2 was the top camera of its day, yet lacked the viewfinder aperture display of the KX. This was offered on the K2DMD, but why didn't Pentax fit it to the original one?

The aperture display on the K2DMD was also the indicator for when the exposure compensation was set it changed from white to orange. It also had an internal built in eyepiece blind.
